What is Dopamine?
Dopamine is a neurotransmitter that helps control the brain's reward and pleasure centers. Dopamine also helps regulate movement and emotional responses, and it enables us not only to see rewards, but to take action to move toward them. Dopamine deficiency results in Parkinson's Disease, and people with low dopamine activity may be more prone to addiction. The presence of a certain kind of dopamine receptor is also associated with sensation-seeking.Tuesday, 22 January 2013

Sure "learning about" feeds back onto the whole learning process...I feel I truly got to learn English - not to mention my own mother tongue Spanish - when I did some metalinguistic learning as well.
As a Psycholinguistics leacturer at Teaching Training College I believe that the more we know about these issues the better we can anticipate trouble, foresee responses and help and guide our students achieve their and our goals.
